Just as athletes warm up their bodies before training, it's important to warm up the mind before building confidence.
Confidence Warm-Up
Before you build confidence, check in with where it is coming from. This warm-up helps you notice what is affecting your confidence and create one cue you can use today.
Where is your confidence today?
Choose the answer that feels most honest right now.
What is affecting your confidence most?
Confidence is easier to build when you know what is challenging it.
What evidence can you trust?
Confidence does not have to be fake. Build it from something real.
Choose your confidence cue
Pick one short phrase you can return to during training or competition.
Your Confidence Statement
This is your warm-up statement for today.
Step 2: Breathing Reset
Confidence grows when athletes feel in control of themselves.
Breathing Reset
4-4-6 Breathing (repeat 4 times)
Step 3: Visualization
See it before you do it
Mentally rehearse success before it happens.
Athletes don’t just perform physically — they prepare mentally by seeing the moment before it arrives.
Visualization scene 1
“Entering the moment”
imagine yourself arriving at a practice session or a game:
You are calm and confident
You are prepared and are feeling ready
You are grateful to be there.
Visualization scene 2
“Focus”
Distractions begin to fade away.
Your attention becomes sharp.
You are fully present.
Your focus is on what matters right now
Visualization scene 3
“Pressure Moment”
A challenging moment appears. The game is on the line.
Pressure is present, but you remain composed.
You trust your preparation. You respond with confidence.
Visualization scene 4
“Finish Strong”
See yourself performing at your best.
You execute with confidence.
You stay composed until the very end.
You finish strong.
You feel proud of your performance.
Train it. See it. Become it.
Before the body performs, the mind leads. Visualization allows athletes to mentally rehearse confidence, focus, resilience, and success before competition begins. Every visualization session is a mental rep — an opportunity to prepare for challenges, strengthen belief, and build the mindset needed to perform at your best.
Confidence is built in different ways for every athlete. This challenge encourages you to start a conversation with a teammate, coach, or fellow athlete and ask:
"Where does your confidence come from?"
Listen to their story, learn from their experiences, and reflect on what confidence means to you. Sometimes the strongest lessons come from the people around us.
